TV One Premieres True Crime Series ATL Homicide

ATL Homicide premieres on TV One, Monday, July 9 at 10/9 pm CT. Vince Velazquez and David Quinn, real life Atlanta PD detectives are the hosts.  Angelo Diaz (David Quinn) and Chris Diaz (Vincent Velazquez) play the detectives’ recreation actors on the one hour show.

The 12 episode  true crime series from Wide Net Productions digs into the personal and professional lives of Quinn and Velazquez to reveal some of the toughest and grittiest cold cases solved by the two. ATL Homicide takes viewers along for the ride as they reveal how these cases were cracked. ATL Homicide is part of the network’s “True Crime Mondays.”

Thirty-year veterans, Quinn and Velazquez have worked in the Atlanta Police Department’s homicide division since 2000. They bring a unique experience to this true-crime show. Velazquez said, “In the series you will see black and brown men in a positive light. That energy that you see is us talking with you, it’s not an act…that’s who we are…we’ve always been serious about solving a case…You’re gonna see just some real dudes just out there grinding.”

Angelo Diaz says of Quinn and Velazquez, “These guys are so authentic…David who I play (is) very smooth. These guys have iconic swag.”

Equally impressed with the network’s choice of actors who play them, Quinn said, “Its amazing, the talent they found in Angelo and Chris…embodies our real life character…We gave the neighborhood their respect…I’m humbled at everything that is happening (with the series).

“Through each compelling case, audiences will feel like what they are watching unfold is happening in real time,” says Tia A. Smith, Sr. Director of Original Programming and Production at TV One. “The blurred line between what’s real versus a re-creation is what really sets this series apart and flips the true crime genre on its head.”

The hosts hope that ATL Homicide will help change the way people look at police and see them in a different light. Velazquez and Quinn pride their efforts in getting to know the people of the community in the neighborhoods they covered over the years.
