Sony’s Miracles From Heaven is a box office hit. The TD Jakes produced faith based film has raked in over $18 million since its March 16 release date in theaters proving once again that faith based films can pull in mainstream audiences and be profitable. Based on a true story, Miracles From Heaven stars Jennifer Garner, Kylie Rogers, Martin Henderson (“Grey’s Anatomy”), John Carroll Lynch (“The Americans”), Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included), and Queen Latifah (Bessie).
Faith based film’s are proving to Hollywood that motion pictures with a faith or Christ centered theme can be profitable both with people of faith and those outside of the church. Last year’s faith based hit film War Room even beat out Straight Outta Compton for the number one box office position one week.
Also looking to fare well at the box office is Pureflix’s God’s Not Dead 2 starring Melissa Joan Hart and Jesse Metcalfe. It opens in theaters April 1. God’s Not Dead 2 is a story about a teacher on trial for using the word “Jesus” in class.
