TV One’s limited crime and justice series Evidence of Innocence closes its season with the story Melonie Ware, a daycare owner sent to prison for a crime she says she did not commit. The finale airs on TV One Monday, June 25 at 10/9 CT.
Hosted by Civil Rights Attorney Benjamin Crump, this episode will look into the life journey of Melonie Ware as she fights for her freedom. Ware was accused of killing an infant who died mysteriously at her Atlanta home daycare in 2004. Each of the show’s four episodes gives an in-depth look into the lives of four wrongfully accused individuals who are fighting for their freedom.
Sentenced to life in prison, and terrorized by fellow inmates because she was convicted of killing a child, considered by many incarcerated of being among the lowest of the low of crimes, Ware has maintained her innocence in the face of doctors and law enforcement officials who claim she killed the infant in a fit of rage. Meanwhile, Ware’s husband remains faithful, fighting for his wife’s freedom in the midst of exhausting the family’s finances.
“The show…casts a revealing light on one of the grossest injustices regularly produced by the nation’s flawed criminal justice system: the incarceration of the innocent,” said Michael Fletcher of The Undefeated.
Evidence of Innocence was created and executive produced by Emmy and NAACP Image Award winner Rushion McDonald of 3815 Media in partnership with Jupiter Entertainment.
Evidence of Innocence airs Monday, June 25 at 10/9 CT on TV One.
