Beautifully Broken, a real life story about three families and their struggle to survive life altering events is now in theaters. In light of the current spotlight on immigration in this country, this film is relevant for the times, with aspects of it dealing with refugees and immigrants.
Starring Benjamin A. Onyango (God’s Not Dead), Scott William Winters (Lethal Weapon), Emily Hahn (Toy Story 3), and featuring Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Thomasina “Goo-Goo” Atkins (Mary Mary-WeTV), Christian music artists Toby McKeehan aka Toby Mac and Michael W. Smith, Beautifully Broken inspires hope as three fathers fight to save their families.
Directed by Eric Welch, Beautifully Broken also contains “beautiful inspiring music.” The song “Beautifully Broken”, written by Chuck Howard who also co-wrote the movie, is performed by three artists from three different musical genres in the movie. Grammy Award winning Gospel artist CeCe Winans, Dove Award winner Plumb and Country music Grammy Award winning artist John Berry.
Among the producers is well-known Gospel Music and Faith-based/Family Entertainment Executive Michelle Duffie of D3 Entertainment/Nashville, a company that has been behind the marketing success of faith based films such as War Room and A Question of Faith.
Beautifully Broken is the latest faith based film to be released nationally utilizing less marketing dollars than the Hollywood blockbusters, but set to bring in profits targeting its core base of Christian film goers who want to see something reflective of their faith that uplifts and inspires hope. The faith based film genre has proven its viability as a force to be reckoned with in the movie business. I Can Only Imagine, earlier this year, has raked in $83 Million, 2018’s biggest grossing faith based film to date. War Room (Tri-Star) pulled in $67 Million in 2015 while another Tri-Star film, Heaven is for Real, released in 2014, brought in an astounding $91 million. The highest grossing faith based film overall has been The Passion of the Christ with a whopping $370 million.
As a faith based and family entertainment writer/editor, I recommend that you go and see Beautifully Broken so that Hollywood is made to take notice to the growing audience and profitability of faith based and family entertainment films that encourage lives and help us to stay inspired, which lends itself to more films from the faith based genre.
Beautifully Broken opened in theaters nationally August 24. Check your local listings for show times. Next, go see it and be inspired.
