90 Minutes In Heaven arrives in theaters Friday, September 11. Coming in on the heels of another faith-based movie, War Room (recently became the number one movie in America), 90 Minutes In Heaven could glean from the current popularity and profitability of faith based movies and leave its mark on the movie industry as well.
Based on the New York Times best seller, 90 Minutes In Heaven by Don Piper, it stars Hayden Christensen (Star Wars, Jumper) and Kate Bosworth (Blue Crush, Superman Returns). The Giving Films, LLC production is the story of the death, return to life and healing of Don Piper, a baptist minister. He was hit and presumably killed in a car wreck in 1989 after a semi-truck smashed in to his car. Piper was pronounced dead on the scene. However, another pastor approached the crash scene, prayed for Piper and he miraculously came back from the dead. He spent ninety minutes under. Piper says he visited heaven during that ninety minutes and that heaven is for real.
Distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films, 90 Minutes In Heaven not only tells Piper’s heavenly experience, the inspiring picture shows Piper’s painful recovery process and the trials and tribulations his wife Eva Piper and their three children went through during his recovery process after the accident.
The 90 Minutes In Heaven cast features country music star Dwight Yoakam, Christian music singer/songwriter Michael W. Smith, and Fred Thompson. The movie was written and directed by Michael Polish (The Astronaut Farmer, The Smell of Success, Stay Cool, Big Sur).
If you enjoy faith-based films and need some inspiration, especially about the power of prayer and God’s healing powers, 90 Minutes In Heaven is worth seeing.
